Private Sector
After successfully hosted the World Cup 2002, Seoul has become the world’s top 3-convention city. The city hosts a number world-scale major events annually. For the sustainable development of the MICE industries, the Seoul MICE Alliance (SMA) was established in 2011 as a public-private partnership between the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seoul Tourism Organization, and service providers across the MICE industry, including hotels, professional congress organizers, transportation, travel agencies, and entertainment companies.
Seoul’s well-equipped convention facilities combined with the support and services of the SMA are contributing factors to placing Seoul in the ranks of leading convention cities. The SMA gained 39 new members this August, bringing the public-private coalition representing Seoul’s MICE industry to a total of 299. Boosting the uniqueness of Seoul’s MICE offerings, venues created by recent urban regeneration efforts join the industry alliance. SMA is the key contact of any MICE organizer from anywhere in the world who is looking for professional and unique experience for their event. Users of SMA members’ services can also qualify for many benefits from the Seoul Convention Bureau while in Seoul.
